Notebook covers the time period from 1854-1856 during which J.P. Morgan was enrolled as a student both at Bellerive, in Vevey, Switzerland and at the University of Göttingen in Germany. It contains meticulous records of the spending money J.P. Morgan received, his expenses, and his bank drafts as well as his incoming and outgoing letters. The notebook also includes some entries from 1857 during his early days as a clerk with Duncan, Sherman & Company in New York.
